1. About You
My name is Talha Zubair, and I come from Peshawar, Pakistan. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, with a CGPA of 3.81/4.0. Alongside academics, I immersed myself in extracurricular activities, volunteering for more than 12 student societies and events. I strongly believe that success is not built on grades alone, but on a holistic balance of learning, leadership, and personal growth. Today, I am pursuing the Erasmus Mundus International Master of Science in Environmental Technology and Engineering (IMETE-C), a program that is taking me across Europe (the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Belgium) to three world-renowned universities. Along this journey, I have been honoured with eight (8) prestigious fully funded international scholarships (including Erasmus Mundus, Türkiye Bursları, Finland Govt. Aalto University, KFUPM, Tampere University, Skoltech university Russia, Illinois Tech, USA, and Wageningen Netherlands)—a milestone that reflects both resilience and consistency.

2. Your Journey Before the Scholarship. What inspired you to apply abroad? Did you face any challenges before applying?
From the very beginning of my undergraduate studies, I dreamt of gaining international exposure. But the road was not easy. Coming from a middle-class background, finances were a constant concern. At times, I doubted whether studying abroad was even possible. Another challenge was building a strong profile—not just a high GPA, but also field experience and leadership skills that international scholarships value. To overcome this, I completed four diverse internships in reputed organizations, took part in international conferences, and worked on projects with real-world impact. These experiences shaped me into a stronger candidate and gave me the confidence to apply for global scholarships.
3. The Application Process. What were the main requirements for this scholarship? How did you prepare for it?
The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is highly competitive, with thousands of applicants from around the world. The main requirements were a strong academic record, CV, motivation letter, and recommendations. I dedicated months to refining my motivation letter, aligning it with program goals, and ensuring every detail was authentic. Consistency and preparation were key.

4. Tips & Strategies That Worked for You. Any mistakes you made that others should avoid?
What worked: start early, build a balanced profile (GPA + internships + volunteering), tailor your essays, and seek feedback. My mistake in earlier attempts was rushing my essays. I learned that a powerful story matters as much as grades.
5. Life After Winning the Scholarship. What opportunities has it opened for you? How is your student life in your host country?
Winning the Erasmus Mundus was nothing short of a dream come true. It opened doors to world-class education, cultural exposure, and a global network of brilliant peers. Beyond academics, this scholarship has given me the chance to interact with brilliant minds from across the globe, make lifelong friends, and experience cultures I once only read about.
6. Advice for Future Applicants?
Believe in yourself—even when it feels impossible. No one has a perfect profile; committees look for passion, authenticity, and potential. Don’t compare yourself to others—be genuine, be consistent, and let your story shine.
